To provide a driver identification device capable of identifying a driver while suppressing increase in cost and weight, and a driver identification method.SOLUTION: A driver identification device acquires driving information detected by sensors mounted on a vehicle during driving by means of an acquisition unit. A driving information accumulation unit accumulates the acquired driving information in a storage region. A driver is identified by comparing the driving information acquired by the acquisition unit with accumulation information accumulated in the storage region, thereby eliminating the need of a dedicated authentication device, etc., for identifying the driver.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
