To improve drivability by suppressing unnecessary transition of a transmission gear ratio that occurs due to a driving operation of a driver or the running state of a vehicle.SOLUTION: A transmission gear ratio control device for a vehicle that controls a transmission gear ratio of a transmission 140 for transiting driving force generated by a driving source to wheels, includes a transmission gear ratio control unit 152c for causing a transition of a transmission gear ratio between a high state with a relatively small transmission gear ratio and a low state with a relatively large transmission gear ratio based on at least required driving force of a driver. When the required driving force is larger than a predetermined value, the transmission gear ratio control unit 152c causes a transition between the high state and the low state according to the required driving force under predefined fixed conditions. When the required driving force is equal to or less than the predetermined value, if a vehicle speed retention intension is equal to or greater than a predetermined level, the transmission gear ratio control unit limits transition from the high state to the low state in causing a transition of a transmission gear ratio from the high state to the low state compared to a case of the vehicle speed retention intension being less than the predetermined level, based on an output result of a learner that has learned the vehicle speed retention intension of the driver according to the driving operation of the driver and the running state of the vehicle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
