To obtain a spatially floating video apparatus in which a spatially floating video having low external light influence and low ghost is obtained, and that has high visibility and is compact.SOLUTION: A spatially floating video display apparatus comprises: an opening that has a transparent member through which video light of a specific polarized wave forming a spatially floating video passes; a liquid-crystal display panel that functions as a video source; a light source device that supplies light in a specific polarization direction to the video source; a retroreflection member in which a retardation plate is provided on a retroreflection surface; and a polarized light separating member that is provided in a space connected between the video source and a retroreflection optical member. The spatially floating video display apparatus once transmits video light of the specific polarized wave from the video source toward the retroreflection optical member using the polarized light separating member; converts the transmitted light to other polarized wave by performing polarization conversion using the retroreflection optical member; causes the light to be reflected by the polarized light separating member; and displays a spatially floating video being a real image on an external side of the transparent member of the opening. Generation of ghost is reduced by reducing roughness of a reflection surface of the retroreflection optical member.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6

    【課題】外光の影響とゴーストの少ない空間浮遊映像が得られ、視認性が高くコンパクトな空間浮遊映像装置を得ること。【解決手段】空間浮遊映像表示装置は、空間浮遊映像を形成する特定偏波の映像光が通過する透明部材を持つ開口部と、映像源として液晶表示パネルと、映像源に特定の偏光方向の光を供給する光源装置と、再帰反射面に位相差板を設けた再帰反射部材と、映像源と再帰反射光学部材とを結んだ空間内に設けた偏光分離部材と、を備え、映像源からの特定偏波の映像光を偏光分離部材で再帰反射光学部材に向けて一旦透過させ、透過された光を再帰反射光学部材で偏光変換することで他方の偏波に変換し、偏光分離部材で反射させ、開口部の透明部材の外側に実像である空間浮遊映像を表示する。再帰反射光学部材の反射面の粗さを低減することで、ゴーストの発生を低減する。【選択図】図6
