To provide a peripheral monitoring device for a vehicle that can accurately perform recording in response to another vehicle that moves too close.SOLUTION: A recording control unit starts recording images for recording in a storage when another vehicle 50 is determined to be traveling on the side of a vehicle 10 and moving to close to the vehicle 10, based on images captured by a side camera 26. The recording control unit, provided that information on a license plate 50N of the other vehicle 50 that moved too close has been recorded in the storage 30D as a part of the images for recording, finishes recording the images for recording to the storage when the license plate 50N has entered an image capture range of one of the cameras based on the image captured by one of a front camera 22 and a rear camera 24.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】幅寄せしてきた他車両に対応して的確な録画をすることができる車両用周辺監視装置を得る。【解決手段】記録制御部は、側方カメラ26により撮像された画像に基づいて、他車両50が車両10の側方を走行しかつ車両10へ幅寄せしていると判定した場合に、記録用画像のストレージへの記録を開始するように制御する。また、記録制御部は、前方カメラ22及び後方カメラ24のうちの一方のカメラにより撮像された画像に基づいて、前記幅寄せをした他車両50のナンバープレート50Nが前記一方のカメラの撮像範囲内に入ったと判定した場合に、当該ナンバープレート50Nの情報が記録用画像の一部としてストレージ30Dに記録されていることを条件に記録用画像のストレージへの記録を終了させる。【選択図】図1
