In this wheel tread cutting device 10, a processing unit 110 performs a cutting operation for forming a groove by pressing a cutting processing unit 111 to a prescribed linear traveling time contact part of the wheel tread which includes a predetermined neutral position as a part to come into contact with a rail during linear traveling. A semi-wet state detection unit 165 detects satisfaction of a prescribed semi-wet state condition based on the rail state. A cutting control unit 167 causes the processing unit 110 to perform the cutting operation when an acceleration/deceleration detection unit 163 and the semi-wet state detection unit 165 have carried out detection and when a groove detection unit 120 has not carried out detection.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
