To provide a preload inspection method of a wheel bearing device which can accurately determine the adaptability of a preload.SOLUTION: A preload inspection method of a wheel bearing device comprises: a pressure-insertion process S02 of pressure-inserting an inner ring 4 into a small-diameter step part 3a; a first bearing preload calculation process S03 of calculating a first bearing preload value P1 on the basis of a negative clearance G1 in an axial direction between a raceway surface after the pressure-insertion process S02 and rolling bodies; a post pressure-insertion rotation torque measurement process S05 of measuring post pressure-insertion rotation torque Ta after the pressure-insertion process; a caulking process S06 of caulking the small-diameter step part to the inner ring after the measurement process; a post-caulking rotation torque measurement process S08 of measuring post-caulking rotation torque Tb after the caulking process; a rotation torque correction process S09 of correcting the post-caulking rotation torque Tb on the basis of a rise amount of a temperature of the inner ring 4; a second bearing preload value calculation process S10 of calculating a second bearing preload value P2 by adding a preload change amount ΔP based on a difference between the post pressure-insertion rotation torque and corrected caulking rotation torque Tc to the first bearing preload value; and a determination process S11 of determining whether or not the second bearing preload value is within a reference value range.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】予圧の良否を高精度に判定できる車輪用軸受装置の予圧検査方法を提供する。【解決手段】内輪4を小径段部3aに圧入する圧入工程S02と、圧入工程S02後における軌道面と転動体との軸方向負隙間G1に基づき第1の軸受予圧値P1を算出する第1の軸受予圧値算出工程S03と、圧入工程後に圧入後回転トルクTaを測定する圧入後回転トルク測定工程S05と、その後に小径段部を内輪に加締める加締工程S06と、加締工程後に加締後回転トルクTbを測定する加締後回転トルク測定工程S08と、加締後回転トルクTbを加締加工による内輪4の温度上昇量に基づいて補正する回転トルク補正工程S09と、圧入後回転トルクと補正済加締後回転トルクTcとの差分に基づく予圧変化量ΔPを第1の軸受予圧値に加えて第2の軸受予圧値P2を算出する第2の軸受予圧値算出工程S10と、第2の軸受予圧値が基準値範囲内かを判定する判定工程S11を備える。【選択図】図2
