To provide a device for measuring mass concentration of solids, such as volcanic ash and ice crystals, suspended in the remote air ahead of an aircraft during flight.SOLUTION: An air suspended solid mass concentration measurement lidar is provided, comprising a lidar configured to measure the backscattering intensity of solids suspended in the remote air using a laser beam of one wavelength, and a mass concentration converter configured to convert the backscattering intensity into mass concentration in the vicinity of a preset mass concentration on the basis of a particle size dominant for the backscattering intensity of the solids.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
