To provide a walking assist device capable of realizing, in walking, muscle force training effect substantially equal to muscle force training effect expected in ordinary walking, reducing risks in walking, and capable of realizing light touch effect.SOLUTION: A walking assist device 1 includes: a rail 2; a movable body 3 movably disposed along the rail 2; a support member 4 supported by the movable body 3, and capable of supporting the body part of a user; a driving device 5 moving the movable body 3 along the rail 2; a sensor 6 disposed in the movable body 3 or the support member 4, and detecting a load to the front in the traveling direction, received from the user by the support member 4; and a control device 7 moving the support member 4 along the rail 2 by controlling the driving device 5 so that a load Fs to the front in the traveling direction detected by the sensor 6 becomes a target load Ftarget in a state that the user gives a load to the support member 4.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12
