To provide a communication system for a maintenance work vehicle for reporting organization length of the maintenance work vehicle.SOLUTION: A communication system 1 for a maintenance work vehicle includes a ground facility 4 arranged in the vicinity of a rail track and an on-vehicle facility 6 mounted on a maintenance work vehicle 5. The ground facility includes a ground sensor that outputs a leading end passing signal when a leading end of the maintenance work vehicle passes through a predetermined sign and outputs a rear end passing signal when a rear end thereof passes through a predetermined sign, a ground passing time determination unit for determining a passing time, and a passing time signal output unit for outputting passing time signals of the leading end and the rear end. The on-vehicle facility includes a vehicle speed sensor outputting the vehicle speed of the maintenance work vehicle, a vehicle speed storage processing unit for storing the vehicle speed with the passage of time, a passing time signal acquisition unit for acquiring the passing time signals of the leading end and the rear end, an organization length arithmetic unit for calculating the length of the maintenance work vehicle according to the vehicle speed, the vehicle mounting time, the leading end passing time, and the rear end passing time, and an organization length signal output unit for outputting an organization length signal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
