To provide a turning unit that can improve reliability.SOLUTION: A turning unit 5 includes a turning side actuator 31 that includes a turning side motor 32 as a motor serving as a drive source, a belt mechanism 36, and a ball screw mechanism 37 and that is configured to apply a turning force for turning wheels 4 to a rack shaft 21. The turning unit 5 includes a redundant actuator 41 that includes a redundant motor 42 as a drive source, a redundant reduction gear 43 configured to transmit rotation of the redundant motor 42 to a pinion shaft 45, and a rack-and-pinion mechanism 44 configured by engagement of pinion teeth 45a of the pinion shaft 45 with rack teeth 21b of the rack shaft 21. The redundant actuator 41 applies a turning force to the rack shaft 21 when a trouble occurs in the turning side actuator 31. A redundant motor capable of outputting the maximum torque smaller than that of the turning side motor 32 is applied as the redundant motor 42.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】信頼性の向上を図ることのできる転舵ユニットを提供する。【解決手段】転舵ユニット5は、駆動源となるモータとしての転舵側モータ32と、ベルト機構36と、ボール螺子機構37とからなり、ラック軸21に転舵輪4を転舵させる転舵力を付与する転舵側アクチュエータ31を備える。転舵ユニット5は、駆動源となる冗長用モータ42と、冗長用モータ42の回転をピニオン軸45に伝達する冗長用減速機43と、ラック軸21のラック歯21bにピニオン軸45のピニオン歯45aを歯合してなるラックアンドピニオン機構44とからなる冗長用アクチュエータ41を備える。冗長用アクチュエータ41は、転舵側アクチュエータ31に異常が発生した場合に、ラック軸21に転舵力を付与する。冗長用モータ42には、転舵側モータ32よりも出力可能な最大トルクが小さいものを採用する。【選択図】図1
