To provide a metal bonding rubber composition which is improved in adhesion to a metallic reinforcing cord after aging and also has excellent physical properties regarding breaking.SOLUTION: The metal bonding rubber composition is formed by adding 0.1 to 10 pts.mass of a compound represented by the formula (1) below or a hydrate thereof to 100 pts.mass of diene rubber comprising 80 pts.mass or more of natural rubber and/or synthetic isoprene rubber. The formula (1) is defined by [R-CH(OH)COO]n M, where M represents a metal, R represents a C1-3 alkyl group, and n represents the valence of M.SELECTED DRAWING: None
