To improve on-ice performance, wet grip performance and wear resistance of a studless tire.SOLUTION: A rubber composition for a studless tire tread according to an embodiment contains: a rubber component containing a natural rubber and a polybutadiene rubber; carbon black; silica; and a hydrocarbon resin having a glass transition temperature within the range of -40°C to 20°C. The total content of the carbon black and the silica is 40-60 pts.mass, the content of the silica is 5 pts.mass or more and less than 40 pts.mass, and the content of the hydrocarbon resin is 0.5-50 pts.mass based on 100 pts.mass of the rubber component. A studless tire according to an embodiment includes a tread comprising the rubber composition.SELECTED DRAWING: None
