To provide a rubber composition for a studless tire tread which is excellent in rolling performance, on-ice performance, and wet performance when formed into a tire, and to provide a studless tire using the rubber composition for a studless tire tread.SOLUTION: The rubber composition for a studless tire tread contains: a conjugated diene rubber containing a predetermined amount of a specific conjugated diene rubber produced by a method for producing a conjugated diene rubber comprising specific steps and a predetermined amount of a natural rubber; a predetermined amount of silica; and a predetermined amount of a silane coupling agent. The content of an aromatic vinyl monomer unit in the specific conjugated diene rubber and the content of vinyl bonds in a conjugated diene monomer unit in the specific conjugated diene rubber are within predetermined ranges. The Mw of the specific conjugated diene rubber is within a predetermined range. The average glass transition temperature of the conjugated diene rubber is within a predetermined range. The rubber composition for a studless tire tread has a specific gravity less than 1.14 after vulcanization.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
