To provide a torque control device of an electric vehicle which can suppress an overcharge of a battery when a motor is rotated in a direction reverse to a direction in which the motor outputs torque in a state that the battery is charged up to the vicinity of a full charge.SOLUTION: A torque control device of an electric vehicle comprises: a motor 2; a battery 4; an inverter 3 for converting a DC current of the battery 4 to an AC current, and supplying it to the motor 2, and converting the AC current outputted by the motor 2 to a DC current, and supplying it to the battery 4; and a control unit 5 for making the motor 2 output torque in a direction reverse to a direction in which the motor 2 is rotated so as to reduce a regeneration current when the control unit detects the regeneration current flowing to the battery 4 from the motor 2 when the control unit detects the rotation of the motor 2 in a direction reverse to a direction in which the motor 2 outputs the torque in a state that a charging state of the battery 4 exceeds a prescribed value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
