To provide a driving wheel bearing device which can be made lightweight and compact and in which generation of abnormal noise at a contact surface between the caulked part of a hub wheel and the shoulder of the outer ring of a joint can be prevented for a long time.SOLUTION: The driving wheel bearing device comprises: an outer member 3; an inner member comprised of a hub wheel and an inner ring 2 which is formed with an inner raceway surface 2a and is press-fitted into a caulked part 1c at an end of the hub wheel 1; double row rolling elements 4; a joint outer ring 12 fitted to the hub wheel 1 in a torque transmittable manner and attachably/detachably fastened to the hub wheel 1; and an annular plate-shaped thrust bearing 7 interposed between the shoulder part 12c of the joint outer ring 12 and the caulked part 1c of the hub wheel 1, the thrust bearing 7 has on the thrust surface, a sliding layer formed directly on a metal substrate or via a metal porous layer, the sliding layer has a fluororesin layer including a fluororesin on the surface, the fluororesin layer is a crosslinked fluororesin layer in which at least a region near the surface is crosslinked, the average crosslink rate from the outermost surface to a depth of 5 μm is 9 to 25%.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】装置の軽量化、コンパクト化を図るとともに、ハブ輪の加締部と継手外輪の肩部との当接面に発生する異音を長期間にわたって防止できる駆動車輪用軸受装置を提供する。【解決手段】駆動車輪用軸受装置は、外方部材3と、ハブ輪1および内側軌道面2aが形成され、ハブ輪1の端部の加締部1cに圧入された内輪2からなる内方部材と、複列の転動体4と、ハブ輪1とトルク伝達可能に嵌合されるとともに着脱自在に締結された継手外輪12と、継手外輪12の肩部12cとハブ輪1の加締部1cとの間に介在された円環平板状のスラスト軸受7とを備え、スラスト軸受7は、スラスト面に、金属基材上に直接または金属多孔質層を介して形成された摺動層を有し、該摺動層は、表面にフッ素樹脂を含むフッ素樹脂層を有し、フッ素樹脂層は、少なくとも表面近傍が架橋された架橋フッ素樹脂層であり、最表面から5μmの深さまでの平均架橋率が9〜25%である。【選択図】図1
