To provide an internal combustion engine that can contribute to reduction in weight of components incorporated to a friction clutch and reduction in drive force added to operation members.SOLUTION: In an internal combustion engine, a friction clutch 65 includes a lifter plate member 75 axially connected to a center member 67 at a fulcrum Ls separated by a first distance from a force point Lf receiving displacement of an operation member 74 and axially connected to a pressure member 71 at a working point Lw separated by a second distance that is shorter than the first distance from the fulcrum Ls.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
