To provide a rack shaft that has high-shape accuracy and can be readily manufactured by forging.SOLUTION: A rack shaft is shaped by forging. The rack shaft includes: a plurality of rack teeth arranged along an axial direction of the rack shaft; and a part to be guided that is arranged on an opposite side to the rack teeth and held by a rack guide.
