To provide a technique for monitoring the abnormality of an exhaust emission control catalyst due to poor warming-up right after starting an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An exhaust emission control system for a hybrid vehicle having the internal combustion engine and an electric motor as driving sources includes the exhaust emission control catalyst provided in an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine, an exhaust sensor provided in the exhaust passage at its downstream side further than the exhaust emission control catalyst for enabling the measurement of concentration of nitrogen oxide, and an abnormality signal generation part constructed to generate an abnormality signal on the basis of the detection result of the nitrogen oxide measured by the exhaust sensor in a predetermined period from starting the internal combustion engine.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
