To provide a cross shaft joint capable of suppressing increase of rotary torque of a shaft portion of a spider or a contact portion of a bearing cup, and to provide a steering device superior in steering stability by reducing bending torque.SOLUTION: In a cross shaft joint 15 in which a shaft portion 51 of a spider 5 is oscillatably fitted to a bearing hole 41 of a yoke through a needle bearing 6 and which includes a bearing cup 61 formed to seal the shaft portion 51, a spherical projecting portion 63 is disposed on an inner bottom surface central portion of the bearing cup 61, a spherical recessed portion 51b kept into contact with the spherical projecting portion 63 is disposed on a tip end surface central portion of the shaft portion 51, and a radius R2 of the spherical recessed portion 51b is larger than a radius R1 of the spherical projecting portion. Further a straight slit or a cross slit is formed on at least any of the spherical projecting portion 63 and the spherical recessed portion 51b.
