To provide a rubber composition for tires which has a high modulus and excellent adhesiveness to a metal member, and to provide a cobalt compound blended therein.SOLUTION: The rubber composition contains, based on 100 pts.mass of a diene rubber containing 50 pts.mass or more of a natural rubber, 40-70 pts.mass of carbon black having an iodine adsorption of 70-130 g/kg, 4-10 pts.mass of sulfur, and 0.05-0.5 pt.mass in terms of cobalt of a cobalt compound represented by general formula (1): R1-Co-R2 (where R1 is an acyloxy group derived from a rosin acid; and R2 is an acyloxy group derived from a C8-20 organic acid).SELECTED DRAWING: None
