To provide a method of assisting in avoiding a collision of a ship by utilizing psychological characteristics of a navigator regarding a risk of collision in order to prevent a marine accident.SOLUTION: A collision avoidance method comprises: a first step of calculating a relative distance (RD) and a relative bearing (RB) between two ships by using information on a counter ship and information on a host ship; a second step of estimating a collision risk reference (CL) using a collision risk recognition of a navigator and modeling a collision risk prediction model (CREM); a third step of calculating the collision risk reference (CL) that uses a distance of a shipping area (DSD) and the collision risk prediction model (CREM) modeled; a fourth step of determining a reference value of a physical profile corresponding to the collision risk reference (CL) for determining that there is a collision risk between the two ships; and a fifth step of emitting a collision risk (CR) alarm for indicating the collision risk reference by comparing the collision risk reference (CL(RD)) relative to the relative distance (RD) and the reference value of the physical profile.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11
