To obtain a single-phase alternate current not containing a harmonic even if superimposing the harmonic on a phase voltage for improving a voltage use rate, in a power converter for a railway vehicle not having a three-phase transformer.SOLUTION: The power converter for a railway vehicle is supplied with DC power, and converts DC power and AC power by switching operations of a plurality of semiconductor elements. A three-phase inverter creates and outputs a three-phase alternate current by using a modulation wave which is obtained by superimposing a harmonic component on a fundamental wave having a prescribed frequency, a single-phase inverter creates and outputs a single alternate current by using a modulation wave having only the harmonic component, and a filter circuit removes a transport wave frequency component from an output of the three-phase inverter, and removes the harmonic component from an output of the single-phase inverter.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】三相変圧器を備えていない鉄道車両用電力変換装置において、電圧利用率を向上させるために相電圧に高調波を重畳する場合でも高調波を含まない単相交流を得る。【解決手段】実施形態の鉄道車両用電力変換装置は、直流電力が供給され、複数の半導体素子のスイッチング動作により直流−交流電力変換を行う鉄道車両用電力変換装置であり、三相インバータは、所定周波数の基本波に高調波成分を重畳した変調波を用いて三相交流を生成し出力し、単相インバータは、高調波成分のみの変調波を用いて単相交流を生成し出力し、フィルタ回路は、三相インバータの出力から搬送波周波数成分を除去するととともに、単相インバータの出力から高調波成分を除去する。【選択図】図1
