To provide an engine start control device which can properly start the engine while suppressing output torque by an electric motor in a rotation lowering period after a stop of the combustion of the engine up to a stop of the rotation of the engine.SOLUTION: An ECU (50) comprises an override determination part (61) for performing an override determination for determining whether or not a piston (13) in a cylinder (12) of an engine can override a compression top dead point on the basis of a rotation state of an output shaft of the engine when a start requirement arises in a rotation lowering period. The ECU also comprises a start control part (62) for starting the drive of the electric motor (30) in a low-reaction period in which a reaction applied to the piston by in-cylinder pressure in the cylinder (12) reaches a prescribed value or lower, and starting the engine when it is determined that the piston cannot override the compression top dead point.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】エンジンの燃焼停止後、エンジンの回転が停止するまでの回転降下期間において、電動機による出力トルクを抑えつつ、エンジンの始動を適切に行うことができるエンジン始動制御装置を提供すること。【解決手段】ECU(50)は、回転降下期間において、始動要求が生じた場合、エンジン出力軸の回転状態に基づいて、エンジンの気筒(12)内のピストン(13)が圧縮上死点を乗り越えられるか否かを判定する乗り越え判定を実行する乗り越え判定部(61)を備える。また、ECUは、ピストンが圧縮上死点を乗り越えられないと判定された場合、気筒12内の筒内圧によりピストンに加えられる反力が所定以下となる低反力期間で電動機(30)の駆動を開始させ、エンジンを始動させる始動制御部(62)を備えた。【選択図】 図1
