To provide a vehicular propeller shaft that can reduce a compression load by which plastic deformation of the propeller shaft is initiated in order to mitigate an impact caused during a collision, in a traveling direction, of a vehicle and can maintain rotation torque capacity for transmitting driving force.SOLUTION: In a propeller shaft 22 having a large-diameter tube part 70, a small-diameter tube part 66, and a first tapered tube part 68 formed between the large diameter tube part and the small-diameter tube part at a predetermined tapered angle (a) with respect to the center line C1 of the propeller shaft 22, a portion where plastic deformation is initiated by a compression load Fc and a portion where plastic deformation is initiated due to rotation torque Tr are disposed in positions different from each other, respectively. Accordingly, an axial load in the event of a collision can be reduced, and a propeller shaft having greater allowable rotation torque Tr can be provided.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5

    【課題】車両の走行方向への衝突時に生じる衝撃を緩和するために、プロペラシャフトの塑性変形が開始される圧縮荷重を低減するとともに、駆動力を伝達するための回転トルク容量を維持することができる車両用プロペラシャフトを提供する。【解決手段】大径管部70と小径管部66と、それらの間にプロペラシャフト22の中心線C1に対して所定のテーパ角度aで形成された第1テーパ状管部68を持つプロペラシャフト22において、圧縮荷重Fcによって塑性変形が開始される部位と回転トルクTrによって塑性変形が開始される部位を異なった場所とする。これによって衝突時における軸方向荷重を低減することができ、また、許容される回転トルクTrが大きいプロペラシャフトが可能となる。【選択図】図5
