PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve output of a 6-stroke internal combustion engine by reducing a pumping loss thereof.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine performs: exhaust with an exhaust valve 30 opened while a piston 14 is lowered after admission, compression, former firing, and combustion followed by scavenging and admission while the piston 14 is raised again with an inlet valve 20 opened before the piston 14 reaches a bottom dead center; compression of fuel injected through a fuel nozzle 40 while the piston 14 is raised with both valves 20 and 30 closed; latter firing with an ignition plug 12 when the piston 14 reaches a top dead center (or a vicinity thereof); and the exhaust while the piston 14 is lowered due to combustion with the exhaust valve 30 opened. Thus, the internal combustion engine reduces a pumping loss by performing 2-stroke cycle repeating: exhaust, scavenging and admission processes; compression process; firing process; combustion process; and exhaust process in this order in place of 6-stroke cycle from pressurized admission to pressurized exhaust and thereby increasing output and improving heat efficiency.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5

    【課題】 6サイクル内燃機関におけるポンピングロスを低減して出力の向上を図る。【解決手段】 吸気,圧縮,前段点火,燃焼の後のピストン14下降時に排気バルブ30を開いて排気を行うとともに、ピストン14が下死点となる手前で吸気バルブ20も開いて、ピストン14が再び上昇するまで掃気・吸気を行う。その後、バルブ20,30の両方を閉じてピストン14上昇により圧縮を行うとともに、燃料ノズル40から燃料を注入する。そして、ピストン14が上死点(ないし上死点付近)となった時点で、点火プラグ12により後段の点火を行う。燃焼によりピストン14が下降し、排気バルブ30を開いて排気する。6サイクルにおける加圧吸気から加圧排気に至る工程の代わりに、2サイクルの排気・掃気・吸気工程→圧縮工程→点火工程→燃焼工程→排気工程を行うことで、ポンピングロスを低減し、出力の増大や熱効率の向上を図る。【選択図】図5
