PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work machine periphery monitoring system which can change performance of detecting an object to be monitored in accordance with situation.SOLUTION: The system comprises: a plurality of detecting portions detecting a predetermined object to be monitored in monitor areas that are different from each other in the periphery of a work machine; a performance changing portion changing each performance of detecting the object to be monitored of at least two detecting portions of the plurality of detecting portions. Alternatively, the system comprises: a detecting portion of the object to be monitored detecting the predetermined object to be monitored in the periphery of the work machine; and a performance changing portion changing performance of at least two performance items out of a plurality of performance items regarding detecting performance of the object to be monitored in the detecting portion of the object to be monitored.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
