PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique accurately detecting a rear vehicle having a high possibility of a rear end collision with the own vehicle.SOLUTION: A rear vehicle detection device (for example, a radar device) is mounted on the own vehicle and includes a calculation unit, a detection unit, and a determination unit. The calculation unit calculates a travel locus of the own vehicle. The detection unit detects a position of a rear vehicle. The determination unit determines an approaching state of the rear vehicle with respect to the traveling locus of the own vehicle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
