PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driver state estimation device that can estimate a distance to a head position of a driver without detecting a center position of a face area of the driver in an image.SOLUTION: A driver state estimation device comprises: a monocular camera 11 that can pick up an image of a driver sitting on a driver's seat; a storage part 15; and a CPU 12. The storage part 15 includes an image storage part 15a that stores an image picked up by the monocular camera 11. The CPU 12 includes: a head detection part 23 that detects a head of the driver in the image read from the image storage part 15a; a blur amount detection part 24 that detects an amount of blur of the head of the driver in the image detected by the head detection part 23; and a distance estimation part 25 that estimates a distance from the head of the driver sitting on the driver's seat to the monocular camera 11 by using the blur amount detected by the blur amount detection part 24.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
