PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a depression/elevation angle calculation device and a depression/elevation angle calculation method which reduce influence due to an underwater measurement situation and position relationship between one's own ship and a target in target searching and calculate an optimal depression/elevation angle as a finding direction of a sound wave emitted from the searching target.SOLUTION: A depression/elevation angle calculation device comprises: an input unit in which environmental information showing a surrounding environmental condition, one's own ship information including depth information of one's own ship, and a target depth are input; a sound ray computation unit which calculates a sound ray showing a depression/elevation angle of a sound wave predicted to arrive at a ship on the basis of the environmental information and the one's own ship information; a phasing depression/elevation angle calculation unit which extracts a direct wave sound ray, a sea surface reflected wave sound ray, and a sea bottom reflected wave sound ray from the calculated sound ray and calculates a distance from the ship to an intersection of each of the extracted sound rays with the target depth and the depression/elevation angle of each of the sound rays relative to the one's own ship; and a display unit which associatively displays the distance and the depression/elevation angle all together for the extracted sound rays.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
