PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and an apparatus of a method for maintaining and controlling a temperature of a material adjacent to a composite material in situ while the composite material is heated during repair of the composite material.SOLUTION: A method includes positioning a heat source 31 in the vicinity of a first surface of a composite material having the first surface and a second surface in a state where a structure 30 having a first surface and a second surface is disposed in the vicinity of the second surface of the composite material 16 and the first surface of the structure is disposed in the vicinity of the second surface of the composite material, positioning an electrothermal apparatus 20 communicating with a controller 28 in the vicinity of the second surface of the structure, bringing the second surface of the structure into contact with a temperature sensing apparatus 38 communicating with the controller, starting up the heat source, applying heat from the heat source to the first surface of the composite material, heating the composite material to a first temperature, supplying current to the electrothermal apparatus, and substantially maintaining a temperature of the structure at a second temperature different from a temperature of the composite material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
