PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular occupant protection device that is configured to suppress rotation of the torso of an occupant restrained with a three point-type seat belt at a front side collision.SOLUTION: A clavicle positioned outside in a vehicle width direction of an occupant restrained with a three point-type seat belt is restrained with a shoulder belt but a clavicle positioned inside in the vehicle width direction is not restrained with the belt, so that the clavicle which is not restrained moves to a front side of a vehicle at a front collision to cause rotation of a torso T with a spinal cord as a shaft. At the front collision, an airbag 28 for knee restraint is inflated and expanded to restrain only a knee KI positioned inside in the vehicle width direction of an occupant P from a front side of the vehicle. This allows reaction force toward a rear side of the vehicle to be inputted to the knee KI from the airbag 28 for knee restraint, so that rotation moment M2 in the opposite direction can be generated to the torso T in which rotation moment M1 is generated with the spinal cord as the shaft. Therefore, rotation of the torso T occurring in the occupant restrained with the three point-type seat belt at the front collision can be reduced or prevented.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7

    【課題】前面衝突時に3点式シートベルトで拘束された乗員のトルソの回転を抑制する車両用乗員保護装置を提供する。【解決手段】3点式シートベルトに拘束された乗員は、車幅方向外側に位置する鎖骨がショルダベルトに拘束されるが、車幅方向内側に位置する鎖骨は拘束されない。したがって、前面衝突時には拘束されていない鎖骨側が車両前方側に移動して脊髄を軸としたトルソTの回転を生ずる。前面衝突の際、膝拘束用エアバッグ28が膨張展開され、乗員Pの車幅方向内側に位置する膝KIのみを車両前方から拘束する。これにより、膝拘束用エアバック28から膝KIに対して車両後方向きの反力が入力され、脊髄を軸にして回転モーメントM1が発生しているトルソTに対して反対方向の回転モーメントM2を発生させることができる。この結果、前面衝突時に3点式シートベルトで拘束された乗員に生ずるトルソTの回転が低減又は防止される。【選択図】図7
