PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more accurately make detection of pedestrians, using radars.SOLUTION: As to a reception signal by a radar S1 mounted in a vehicle, a characteristic of a reception signal in a first prescribed time (instant characteristic), and a characteristic of a reception signal in a second prescribed time longer than the first prescribed time (a spatial characteristic due to a change in a radar position accompanied by travelling of the vehicle) are acquired. On the basis of the characteristic of the reception signal in the first prescribe time, and the characteristic of the reception signal in the second prescribed time, presence or absence of a pedestrian is determined. A characteristic of the acquired reception signal may be a variation coefficient indicative of a variation in the reception signal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5

    【課題】レーダを利用して歩行者の検出をより精度よく行えるようにする。【解決手段】車両に搭載されたレーダS1での受信信号について、第1所定時間における受信信号の特徴(瞬時特徴)と、第1所定時間よりも長い時間となる第2所定時間における受信信号の特徴(車両の走行に伴うレター位置の変更による空間的特徴)とが取得される。第1所定時間について取得された受信信号の特徴と第2所定時間で取得された受信信号の特徴とに基づいて、歩行者の有無が判定される。取得される受信信号の特徴としては、受信信号の変動を示す変動係数とすることができる。【選択図】 図5
