PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a captive balloon capable of preventing the moored balloon from lightning strike.SOLUTION: A captive balloon 1 of the invention comprises: a balloon 10; a mooring cable 11, an end of which is joined to the balloon 10; a lightning sensor 15 for detecting a distance between the balloon and a position where a lightning is generated; an altitude sensor 16 for measuring an altitude of the balloon 10; a winding device 12 for winding or unwinding the mooring cable 11; and a control unit 20 for determining the altitude of the balloon 10 on the basis of the lightning distance information related to a distance detected by the lightning sensor 15, and controlling the winding device 12 so that the altitude measured by the altitude sensor 16 coincides with the determined altitude.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
