PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quay crane in which oscillation of a boom can be suppressed, and a method for controlling a quay crane.SOLUTION: A displacement direction when a sea side end of a boom 4a is displaced to a front side or a rear side in a direction of travel of a quay crane 1 from an initial position, is measured by a displacement measurement mechanism 13. When the sea side end of the boom is displaced to the rear side in the direction of travel, a speed of a land side travel device 2b relative to a sea side travel device 2a is reduced, and when the sea side end of the boom 4a is displaced to the front side in the direction of travel, a speed of the sea side travel device 2a relative to the land side travel device 2b is reduced.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
