PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely exert an attenuation property even if oil flows at a high flow speed.SOLUTION: A shock absorber comprises: a cylinder which is sealed with oil; a piston which is connected to a piston rod, and arranged so as to be slidable in the cylinder; and an attenuation force generation device 40 for generating an attenuation force by controlling a flow of oil which is generated by a slide of the piston in the cylinder accompanied by the displacement of the piston rod. The attenuation force generation device 40 comprises a valve main body 75 in which a compression-side inlet port 66c into which the oil pushed out by the piston flows is formed, and a compression-side attenuation valve 65 which is arranged so as to block a port outlet 77b, and exerts an attenuation force by being elastically deformed according to the pressure of oil which flows into the compression-side inlet port 66c. An opening cross section area A1 of a port flow-in port 79A is larger than a flow passage cross section area A0 of the compression-side inlet port 66c.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
