PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce force applied to a runaway prevention layer apparatus so as to reduce the risk of runaway of a portal crane.SOLUTION: A portal crane 2 comprises: a pair of legs 8, 9 which are arranged being alienated from each other in a direction crossing a travelling direction of the portal crane 2; a girder 10 bridged between the legs 8, 9; and a runaway prevention device which binds lower parts of the legs 8, 9 with respect to the ground surface. In a method for fixing the portal crane 2, the lower parts of the legs 8, 9 are bound with respect to the ground surface by using the runaway prevention device. In a method for fixing the portal crane, ground surface side fixing parts 35, 36 that are arranged at the front side or the rear side in the travelling direction of the portal crane 2 are connected with the girder 10 or the legs 8, 9.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
