PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant detection device capable of correctly detecting presence/absence of an occupant even when a personal computer, a tablet, or a smartphone is mounted on a seat.SOLUTION: An occupant detection device 10 is mounted on a vehicle comprising: a vehicle body 12; a seat 13; and an on-vehicle power source 40. The occupant detection device comprises: an electrostatic sensor 11 which is provided in the seat and measures an electrostatic capacity between the seat and the vehicle body; an intercepting device 45 for intercepting a function of the on-vehicle power source; a control device 16 for temporarily actuating the intercepting device when a measured value measured by the electrostatic sensor is higher than a prescribed threshold; and a determination device 17 for determining that there is an occupant, when the measured value measured by the electrostatic sensor is still higher than the prescribed threshold when the intercepting device is actuated.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
