PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device for an engine including a flow control valve compactly arranged while securing the warming-up performance of an engine body and suppressing layout interference with other auxiliary equipment by devising the arrangement of the flow control valve to prevent an increase in the length of a pipe for each cooling liquid passage when the flow control valve and a water pump are arranged on the same side in a cylinder row direction.SOLUTION: A cooling device for an engine includes a radiator 6 having a cooling liquid introduction part 61 for introducing cooling liquid and a cooling liquid delivery part 62 for delivering the cooling liquid, a first cooling liquid passage 10 connecting a water pump 5 for introducing the cooling liquid into a cooling liquid inlet part 31 of an engine body 2 to the cooling liquid delivery part, a second cooling liquid passage 11 connecting a cooling liquid outlet part 41 of the engine body to the cooling liquid introduction part, and located on one end side in the cylinder row direction of the engine body over the whole length, and a flow control valve 8 for controlling the flow of the cooling liquid flowing in the first cooling liquid passage, the flow control valve being arranged on one end side in the cylinder row direction at the lateral of an oil pan 9.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】流量制御弁とウォータポンプとを気筒列方向の同じ側に配置する際に、流量制御弁の配置を工夫し、各冷却液通路の配管の長さが大きくなるのを防止して、エンジン本体の暖気性能を確保すると共に、他の補機類などとのレイアウト干渉を抑制しつつ、流量制御弁をコンパクトに配置すること。【解決手段】冷却液を導入する冷却液導入部61および冷却液を導出する冷却液導出部62を有するラジエータ6と、エンジン本体2の冷却液入口部31に冷却液を導入するウォータポンプ5と上記冷却液導出部とを繋ぐ第1冷却液通路10と、エンジン本体の冷却液出口部41と上記冷却液導入部とを繋ぐとともに、全長にわたりエンジン本体における気筒列方向の一端側に位置する第2冷却液通路11と、第1冷却液通路を流れる冷却液の流量を制御する流量制御弁8を備え、流量制御弁が、気筒列方向一端側のオイルパン9の側部に配置される。【選択図】図1
