PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine cooling device and an engine cooling method which prevent the engine cooling device from getting massive and heavy without increasing the number of radiators while improving fuel efficiency and curbing deterioration of emission performance by cooling both an engine body and intake air supercharged with a supercharger.SOLUTION: An auxiliary cooling circuit 40 of a water-cooled intercooler 14 comprises: a first cooling circuit 41 which circulates cooling water W1 without allowing the same to be circulated through a radiator 34 in a main cooling circuit 31 to cool an engine body 16; a second cooling circuit 42 which circulates the cooling water W2 with the same circulated through the radiator 34; and a cooling circuit switching mechanism which switches a flow passage of the auxiliary cooling circuit 40 to the first cooling circuit 41 when an exit temperature Tout at an exit of a water pump 32 is less than an intake air temperature Ta at the exit of a compressor 13 and to the second cooling circuit 42 when the exit temperature Tout is not less than the intake air temperature Ta.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
