PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To firmly fix a resin blade to a propeller boss in a variable pitch propeller.SOLUTION: A variable pitch propeller for a ship comprises a plurality of fiber-reinforced plastic blades radially protruding from a circumferential surface of a propeller boss, and changes a pitch of the blades by rotating the blades around a blade shaft using a change mechanism. In the variable pitch propeller for a ship, bores are formed at respective blade positions in the propeller boss. A palm having a small diameter part formed in an outer periphery is fitted into each of the bores, a rectangular root part protruding from a bottom part of the blade is inserted into a top surface of the palm, the root part is provided with a metal body, and a bolt is screwed into the metal body from a bottom surface of the palm. On the other hand, the propeller boss is divided into a propeller boss front part and a propeller boss rear part to form a space inside thereof, the propeller boss front part and the propeller boss rear part are fitted into the small diameter part of the palm from front and rear sides in a palm rotatable manner, and the change mechanism for rotating the blades is fitted into a propeller boss space.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
