PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve rigidity of a constricted part of a rear pillar outer panel, suppress reduction in the rigidity of the constricted part, and facilitate design of a large lift gate having a gently elongated design in a front-rear direction.SOLUTION: A flange 51b of a rear pillar outer panel 51 provided on a vehicle outer side of a rear pillar 5 forming a side edge of a luggage compartment opening 1 of a vehicle V and a flange 61a of a side outer panel 61 forming a side face of the vehicle outer side are joined together, and a constricted part 7 in which the luggage compartment opening 1 is constricted inward in a vehicle width direction is provided at a part thereof. A notch (62) is provided in the constricted part 7 of the flange on the side outer panel side. The constricted part 7 of the rear pillar outer panel 51 is formed so as to bulge in a vertical direction. A vertical wall part 55 is formed on an outer frame 51o of the rear pillar outer panel 51. The vertical wall part 55 extends linearly from the constricted part 7 toward a rear header 3 so as to separate from an inner frame 51i.     【課題】リヤピラーアウタパネルのくびれ部の剛性を向上して、くびれ部の剛性低下を抑制し、前後方向になだらかに長いデザインを有する大型のリフトゲートの設計を容易とすること。【解決手段】車両Vの荷室開口1の側縁を形成するリヤピラー5における車両外側に備えたリヤピラーアウタパネル51と、車両外側側面を形成するサイドアウタパネル61との各フランジ51b,61a同士が接合され、その一部に荷室開口1が車幅方向内側にくびれるくびれ部7が設けられ、サイドアウタパネル側のフランジのくびれ部7に切欠(62)が設けられ、リヤピラーアウタパネル51のくびれ部7が上下方向に膨出成形され、リヤピラーアウタパネル51の外枠51oには、縦壁部55が形成され、該縦壁部55がくびれ部7からリヤヘッダ3に向かって直線的に内枠51iから離間するように延びており、リヤピラーアウタパネル51に拡幅部54Wが設けられた構成とした。【選択図】図1
