PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical, simple, and reliably method for determining existence of parking by imaging a state of a parking lot in an overhead manner.SOLUTION: A parking detection method is performed by a system including: a camera at an image recognition camera position 11 capable of imaging multiple vehicle chambers in an unmanned parking lot in an overhead manner; and marks 29-33 which are arranged in each vehicle chamber, whose contours can be clearly determined, and each of which is arranged at a position such that the whole part or a part of the mark is hidden from a viewing angle of the camera only when a vehicle is parked in a vehicle chamber without being influenced by a vehicle that has parked in another vehicle chamber.
