PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both improvement in strength of a railway vehicle body structure for a lateral collision, and omission of a step related to smoothing of a weld zone between a side body structure and a side beam, and correction by putty.SOLUTION: A side body structure 1 includes a base part 1x disposed above an outside surface 5yb of a side beam 5y, and an extension part 1y extending along the outside surface 5yb of the side beam 5y downward from the base part 1x. The extension part 1y faces a region from an upper end 5yb1 to a lower end 5yb2 of the outside surface 5yb of the side beam 5y in a width direction of the body structure. The extension part 1y is welded with an upper surface 5ya and a lower surface 5yc of the side beam 5y through weld zones W1 and W2 respectively. A weld zone between the side body structure 1 and the side beam 5y is not provided on the outside surface 1b of the side body structure 1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3

    【課題】側面衝突に対する鉄道車両構体の強度の向上と、側構体と側梁との溶接部の平滑化やパテ修正に係る工程の省略とを共に実現する。【解決手段】側構体1は、側梁5yの外側面5ybよりも上方に配置される基部1xと、基部1xから下方に向けて側梁5yの外側面5ybに沿って延出した延出部1yとを有する。延出部1yは、側梁5yの外側面5ybの上端5yb1から下端5yb2までの領域と、構体の幅方向に対向している。延出部1yが、側梁5yの上面5ya及び下面5ycと、それぞれ溶接部W1,W2を介して溶接されている。側構体1の外側面1bには、側構体1と側梁5yとの溶接部が設けられていない。【選択図】図3
