PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize fuel consumption of a vehicle during automatic travel thereof.SOLUTION: In automatic travel control of a vehicle, whether a target speed of the vehicle, which is set by a travel plan, can be maintained from peripheral information of the vehicle detected by an external sensor (1) is predicted. When it is predicted that the target speed of the vehicle cannot be temporarily maintained, plural travel plans for the vehicle during a travel period in which it is predicted that the target speed of the vehicle cannot be temporarily maintained are created. A travel plan for a vehicle having least fuel consumption of an engine is selected from among created plural travel plans for the vehicle, and during the travel period in which it is predicted that the target speed of the vehicle cannot be temporarily maintained, drive of the engine and a steering gear is controlled according to the selected vehicular travel plan.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 21

    【課題】車両の自動走行中おける燃料消費量を最小にする。【解決手段】車両の自動走行制御において、外部センサ(1)により検出された車両の周辺情報から、走行計画により設定された車両の目標速度を維持可能であるかが予測される。車両の目標速度を一時的に維持できなくなると予測されたときには、車両の目標速度を一時的に維持できなくなると予測された走行期間中の複数の車両の走行計画が生成される。生成された複数の車両の走行計画のうちで最もエンジンの燃料消費量の少ない車両の走行計画が選別され、車両の目標速度を一時的に維持できなくなると予測された走行期間中、選別された車両の走行計画に従ってエンジンおよび操舵装置の駆動が制御される。【選択図】図21
