PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a tire outer layer, which can improve an initial grip performance and a grip performance in a middle stage of traveling while suppressing a use amount of phosphorus as well as keeping or improving good wear resistance and which can improve these performances in a balanced manner, and a pneumatic tire using the composition.SOLUTION: The rubber composition for a tire outer layer comprises a rubber component, a plasticizer, a resin having a softening point of 30°C or higher, and sulfur. The plasticizer comprises an aliphatic polybasic acid ester having a solidification point of -50 to -10°C. With respect to 100 parts by mass of the rubber component, the content of the aliphatic polybasic acid ester is 0.5 to 50 parts by mass and the content of the resin is 2 parts by mass or more.SELECTED DRAWING: None

    【課題】リンの使用量を抑えつつ、良好な耐摩耗性を維持又は改善しつつ、初期グリップ性能及び走行中期のグリップ性能を改善し、これらの性能をバランス良く改善できるタイヤ外層用ゴム組成物、及びこれを用いた空気入りタイヤを提供する。【解決手段】ゴム成分と、可塑剤と、軟化点30℃以上の樹脂と、硫黄とを含有し、前記可塑剤は、凝固点−50〜−10℃の脂肪族多塩基酸エステルを含み、前記ゴム成分100質量部に対して、前記脂肪族多塩基酸エステルの含有量が0.5〜50質量部、前記樹脂の含有量が2質量部以上であるタイヤ外層用ゴム組成物。【選択図】なし
