PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axle number detection device that can be installed in a place where a sufficient installation space cannot be secured, and can specify the number of axles of a running vehicle.SOLUTION: An axle number detection device 100 comprises: an image acquisition part 101 that acquires a photographed image from an imaging device 10C photographing an image including tires of a vehicle from the depth side in the direction of travel to the front side in the direction of travel of the vehicle; a tire extraction part 102 that performs pattern matching processing of the photographed image acquired by the image acquisition part 101 with a plurality of reference images that are images including the tires of the vehicle and stored in advance in a storage part 106, and extracts the tire included in the photographed image; and an axle number specification part 103 that specifies the number of axles of the vehicle on the basis of a result of extraction of the tires.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
