PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve a seal performance.SOLUTION: In a gear device 1 for railroad vehicle, a small gear 3 formed in a pinion shaft 2 connected to a motor via a shaft coupling and a large gear 4 fitted to an axle 5 are engaged and accommodated within a casing 6. A non-contact seal device is provided in the vicinity of a rotary bearing part in the gear device for railroad vehicle. In a region from bearings 9 and 8 of the pinion shaft 2 and the axle 5 to the outside of the casing 6, a narrow gap 12a including e.g., a labyrinth passage 10, a large space 13, a narrow gap 12b and a space 14 are provided in order in an axial direction of the pinion shaft 2 and the axle 5. At least one of the labyrinth passage 10 communicated to the large space 13 and the narrow gap 12b is opened in a radial direction of the pinion shaft 2 or the axle 5.EFFECT: Oil droplet riding on a gas stream flow from the narrow gap to an outer peripheral side of the large space and sufficiently stagnated within the large space. Thus, the quantity of oil particles to be captured is increased and leakage to the outside of the casing can be prevented.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】シール性能のさらなる向上を図る。【解決手段】電動機に軸継手を介して接続された小歯車軸2に形成された小歯車3と、車軸5に取付けられた大歯車4を噛み合わせてケーシング6の内部に収めた鉄道車両用歯車装置1における回転軸受部近傍に設けられた非接触式シール装置である。小歯車軸2及び車軸5の軸受9,8からケーシング6の外側に至る領域に、例えば、ラビリンス流路10を含む狭間隙12a、大空間13、狭間隙12b、空間14を小歯車軸2及び車軸5の軸方向に順に設ける。大空間13に連なるラビリンス流路10、狭間隙12bの少なくとも一方を小歯車軸2又は車軸5の半径方向に開放する。【効果】ガス流れに乗った油滴は狭間隙から大空間の外周側に流れて大空間内で十分滞留するので、油粒子の捕捉量が多くなってケーシング外部への漏出を防ぐことができる。【選択図】図1
