PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of a tire gripping device capable of suppressing distortion of a tire, for example, when a gripping mechanism is inserted into the bead part of the tire to grip the tire.SOLUTION: The tire gripping device includes: the centering step of bringing a body part into contact with the tire radial-direction end part of a bead part, and moving the body part toward the tire radial-direction outside in its relative movement permitted state with respect to the tire radial-direction end part to a first diameter expansion position to execute centering of the tire with respect to a chucking mechanism; the temporary fixing step of ending the relative movement of the body part with respect to the tire radial-direction end part to temporarily fix an abutting member to the tire radial-direction end part; the expansion step of moving a pair of chucking parts 38a to the width-direction outside of the tire to push and widen a tire width-direction inner end part to the tire width-direction outside by a flange part; and the gripping step of moving the abutting member 74 to a second diameter expansion position larger in diameter than the first diameter expansion position to grip the tire by a predetermined gripping force.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4

    【課題】一例としては、タイヤのビード部内側に把持機構を挿入して、タイヤを把持する場合に、タイヤの歪みが抑制できるタイヤ把持装置の制御方法を提供する。【解決手段】実施形態にかかるタイヤ把持装置にあっては、ビード部のタイヤ径方向端部に本体部を当接させて、当該本体部がタイヤ径方向端部に対して相対移動許容状態でタイヤの径方向外側に向かい第1拡径位置まで移動させて、チャック機構に対してタイヤのセンタリングを実行するセンタリング工程と、本体部とタイヤ径方向端部との相対移動を終了させて、タイヤ径方向端部に当接部材を仮固定する仮固定工程と、一対のチャック部38aをそれぞれタイヤの幅方向外側に移動させて、フランジ部でタイヤ幅方向内側端部をタイヤの幅方向外側に押し広げる拡張工程と、当接部材74を第1拡径位置より大径の第2拡径位置まで移動させてタイヤを所定把持力で把持する把持工程と、を備える。【選択図】図4
