To provide a tire gripping device that can reduce labor of work for lifting up and down a tire and a wheel by human power of a worker to improve efficiency in work for exchanging a tire by a tire exchanger.SOLUTION: A tire gripping device comprises: a chuck part 3 that fits to a hub hole 4 of a wheel W to grip the wheel W attachably and detachably; a rotationally driving part 5, provided with the chuck part 3, which rotates the chuck part 3 around a shaft line L1; and a tilting/driving part 6 that angularly displaces the rotationally driving part 5 in a first direction D1 in which the part is angularly displaced around a horizontal angular displacement shaft line L2, from an overturning position at which the shaft line L1 becomes horizontal to a standing position at which the shaft line L1 becomes vertical, and in a second direction D2 in which the part is angularly displaced around the angular displacement shaft line L2, from the standing position to the overturning position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
