PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic damper that can improve vibration damping property.SOLUTION: The electromagnetic damper 12 includes: torque detection means 20 for detecting twisting torque of an output shaft 60 of an electric motor 56 or transmission shaft 52 for transmitting external vibration to the electric motor 56; and a control device 34 for controlling the electric motor 56. The control device 34 controls the electric motor 56 so as to cancel the twisting torque detected by the torque detection means 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
